Corporate membership is open to companies who are directly involved in the fibre optics/communications industry and are manufacturers, distributors, re-sellers, consultants, installers, system integrators, training providers etc. in the field. The annual membership fee depends on company turnover.

Associate membership is open to of fibre optic products , systems or services in the sense that they buy-in these facilities for their own networks, e.g. banks, commercial organisations, universities etc.

Personal membership is open to any individual in the UK wishing to join the FIA.

Student membership is open to students undergoing a regular course of further education in the UK on a subject of relevance to the fibre optic industry. Such students must be a minimum of 17 years old.

Yes, you can use the logo on all your promotional material etc. – we can send a copy of the logo to you either in hard copy or via email.

Yes -as a benefit of membership (except for Personal and Student status) we will list your company together with it’s products and services, where relevant, on the web-site. We can also include a link to your web site.

Yes – You can contact us, and our Secretariat will forward your query to the correct technical person on our Council.

Yes – FIA e-Newsletters are distributed to nominated personnel within our membership by email . Hard-copy versions are sent on request only.

Please check our Training Providers Listing. In addition, a number of our member companies meet the stringent criteria allowing them to be ‘FIA Approved Training Providers’ and they will be able to give you advice on various training courses etc.

There is no guaranteed solution – employment success depends upon many factors of which your qualifications are only one – albeit an important one. City & Guilds 3466/3667 certificates provide a good base as do other recognized qualifications such as NVQs. More advanced courses such as those covering OTDR testing are a useful addition.
